Troy Baker Bio

Troy Baker: Producer, Sound Architect & Global Collaborator

Troy Baker’s multicultural upbringing split between Jamaica, England, and the U.S. laid the

foundation for his genre-fluid career in music. Immersed in the industry from a young age

through his family’s label, “Gee Street Records”, he started his music journey at Jamaica’s

GeeJam Studios at age 12, leading to him engineering and producing artists across genres

by his teens.

His sound blends dancehall rhythms with dub’s atmospheric textures, drawing inspiration

from time spent in Jamaica’s Drapers village, where he mentored emerging local artists

and new talent Islandwide. Alongside Dale ‘Dizzle’ Virgo, he co-founded the production

duo “DizTroy”, crafting Agent Sasco’s acclaimed “Banks of the Hope”—a track that bridges

Jamaican tradition with modern experimentation.

A longtime collaborator of producer Dave ‘Switch’ Taylor (Diary Records), Baker balances

label projects like the genre-blurring “Wayward World” and “TBS” series with

independent releases under his own “TBS Records”. Since 2022, he’s been a key creative

partner for M.I.A., co-producing music, and live DJ sets for her tours, including tracks like

“Babylon” (released as an NFT) and “MATALIFE” from her album “MATA”.

He is currently touring as “TroyBakerSound” (opening for Santigold), he merges live

production with original films, reflecting his dual focus on audio and visual storytelling.

His dedication to sonic precision also drives “Beat di System a custom-built sound system

crafted in Los Angeles. He creates bespoke stacks designed as both functional tools and

artistic installations.

In 2025, Troy is set to launch his groundbreaking music series, “Tek Charge”, featuring

original foundation tracks paired with dynamic “Tek Charge Mixes” tailored for diverse

audiences. The inaugural release will debut with a collaboration between Troy and

Jamaican dancehall sensation Skeng, including both the original single and its “Tek Charge

Mix”.
